Training for Increased Wolf Hazing Options
for
Livestock Producers
CDFW developed a process to authorize injurious harassment of wolves by trained livestock producers, to include the use of specific less-than-lethal projectiles (LTLP) and sustained pursuit to help reduce wolf-livestock conflict. More details are included in the attached flyer.
Sierra Valley Resources Conservation District (RCD) is hosting the following trainings for livestock producers:

The Sierra Valley RCD will collect applications from ranchers in Plumas and Sierra County who are interested in night vision binoculars as a tool to help producers detect wolf presence and deter livestock depredations.
“When wolves are moving at night, being able to see where they are is critical. Night vision binoculars give ranchers another tool to monitor their cattle, detect wolves and respond before a livestock loss occurs,” States Rick Roberti, local rancher and Chairman of the Sierra Valley RCD. “These tools are expensive, so are the calves we are losing. Without GPS, we need tools in the hands of local ranchers to give them another option to protect their livestock.”
